Experimental Infectiology of Rodents and Fish

The experimental unit, IERP, is a unique structure (experimental aquaculture) in France and rare in Europe whose main activity is animal experimental on model animals (Rodents and Fish) in infectiology, a field of the study of bacterial, viral and prion infectious diseases. Their work involves participating in the study if infectious diseases with and for all those who work in the following fields: baceriology, virology, microbiology, immunology, vaccinology ...

Presentation

The two main missions of the UE IERP are the following:

  • the production of animals with specific health genetic statuses: eggs, fry, fish, rodents.
  • the development of experiments, in the field of infectiology, for two animal species (rodents and fish) and implicating many class 2 and 3 pathogens including some that are zoonotic or GMO (genetically modified organisms).

The UE IERP possesses adapted infrastructures, qualified personnel who are competent and have experience to answer the needs of the national, European and intenational public and private scientific community. it provides expert advice on the projects submitted to it in its areas of expertise, it adapts to new requests and their specificities, which is a distinctive feature in research.

The UE IERP offers an experimental capacity in an experimental confined A2 environment for fish and an A2/A3 confined environment for laboratory animals (rodents) as well as providing transgenic and imaging laboratories.
