Androniki is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Veterinary Clinical Genetics at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and an Honorary Scientific Associate at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh. She is a vet and quantitative geneticist interested in the dissection of the genetic architecture and the study of the underlying molecular mechanism of resistance to important animal diseases and zoonoses. Her group implements and merges classical quantitative genetics with different omics (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, metagenomics) and wet lab approaches to gain better insights into the underlying mechanisms of the traits under investigation. Androniki works across different infectious and non-infectious diseases and species (for more info https://sites.google.com/view/psifidigroup/home). In this seminar, she will present their efforts to dissect dairy cattle resistance to lameness and poultry resistance to zoonotic pathogens.
